Red Meat Consumption Overload Disease Susceptible exposed



Is red meat is harmful to your health ? Factors worse , red meat can increase the risk of death ?

In a unique study of over 121,000 adults, researchers from Harvard University reported that the more red meat you consume , the greater the risk of death .

Because red meat can lead to various diseases , such as heart disease , cancer , and diabetes . The results of the study Harvard School of Public Health , published in the Archives of Internal Medicine in March 2012 stating that excessive consumption of red meat could threaten your health .

Data from a total of 83 644 women ( aged 30-55 ) from the Nurses Health Study and 37 698 men ( ages 40-75 ) from the Health Professionals Follow - up Study evaluated .

The researchers are interested in the amount of meat consumed by each study participant for 22 years . The amount of meat consumed by the participants were divided into five categories , ranging from 2.4 to 3.1 servings per day to 0.5 servings per day ) .

Researchers compared people who consumed the most red meat with those who consumed the least , those who ate red meat risk of 30 percent or more increase in the risk of death .

More specifically, each serving of raw meat was associated with a 13 percent increase in the risk of premature death . Meanwhile , each serving of processed meat was associated with a 20 percent increased risk of premature death .

Processed meats include hot dogs , luncheon meats , pepperoni , and sausage , which are usually high in sodium ( salt ) and nitrate.
